Chennai's manufacturing corridor - Ambattur, Oragadam, Sriperumbudur, SIPCOT Irungattukottai, Maraimalai Nagar, Gummidipoondi and Manali - carries one of the largest automotive and electronics manufacturing concentrations in the country. These are big-span, high-throughput plants where operator comfort directly affects line output. Air Care System & Solution India Pvt. Ltd. supplies HVLS fans, indirect-direct evaporative cooling, factory fabricated ducting and industrial exhaust systems to this belt, and our Tirunelveli manufacturing facility gives us a Tamil Nadu production base.
Chennai's climate sets the design approach. This is a hot and persistently humid coastal city, and the wet-bulb depression stays narrow through most of the year. A direct evaporative cooler quoted on dry-climate performance will disappoint here, and we say so before quoting rather than after commissioning. What works in Chennai is high-volume air movement from HVLS fans, indirect-direct or adiabatic cooling that does not add moisture to the supply air, and properly designed extraction that removes process heat at source instead of allowing it to accumulate under the roof.
| Peak summer dry-bulb | 38-40°C (May-June) |
| Design wet-bulb | approx. 28-29°C |
| Year-round relative humidity | 65-80% |
| Recommended primary system | HVLS air movement + IDEC / adiabatic cooling |
In a humid coastal climate the useful design metric is not temperature drop but effective air velocity at working level combined with heat removed at source. HVLS fans move very large volumes of air slowly across a shed, raising evaporative heat loss from the skin and improving perceived comfort without adding moisture. Where process heat is concentrated - furnaces, paint ovens, weld cells - we extract it locally so the general ventilation system is not being asked to dilute a load it was never sized for.
Industrial air coolers are supplied for spot cooling at manned stations in Chennai plants, positioned honestly as localised comfort equipment rather than as a whole-building answer, because the city's humidity limits what any direct evaporative unit can achieve. Indirect-direct evaporative and Oxycom adiabatic systems are the appropriate cooling specification for Chennai, cooling supply air through a heat exchanger without raising moisture content. Oxycom pre-cooling for air-cooled chillers is also widely applicable where existing plant is struggling at high ambient. Read more about Evaporative Air Cooling Systems & IDEC.
HVLS fans are usually the first and highest-value step for a Chennai plant. Aerofoil blades moving very large air volumes across body shops, assembly halls and warehouses raise perceived comfort substantially in humid conditions at a fraction of the connected load of the fans they replace. We manufacture factory fabricated hollow profile, rectangular, round, oval and spiral ducting in GI, stainless steel and aluminium for Chennai's automotive paint shops, electronics assembly areas and process buildings, with insulated PUF panels and modular enclosures where required. Weld cells, paint ovens, curing presses and adhesive lines across the Oragadam and Sriperumbudur belt need heat and fume removed at source. We design the hood, ducting, fan and make-up air together so the general ventilation system is not left diluting a load it was never sized for.
